The claim is that the watch is able to keep accurate time within 50 milliseconds of the definitive global time standard. Of course, however, it wouldn’t be an Apple product without a whole slew of bells and whistles as well though.
First, there is the visual. Users can customize the watch’s face to present time in a more personalized way, in line with their life and schedule. Second, communication is facilitated. And there is a physical sensation one experiences when a message comes in – like a gentle tap. One can also connect to their friends spontaneously with a tap, sketch or even a heartbeat!
One is alerted by three rings on the activity app to show one’s daily progress and motivates them to get up and move around! As an advanced sports watch it gives the user real-time stats for most popular workouts too.
]]>What has been happening is that there has been a significant overhaul on Apple’s iOS 7. This has resulted in the potential for iPhone widgets on both the 6 model and the 5S, to be found on the smartphone’s home screen. The concept was developed by SimplyZesty to make iPhone widgets a possibility. The redesigned iOS is compatible with Jony Ive’s vision – Chief Designer at Apple – who bases his designs on being as “uncluttered” and “flat” as possible.
It seems that for a long while, iPhone widgets have been on the wishlist of Apple fans. But once the iOS 7 is unveiled, this dream will become a reality.

Boasting 5 million pixels in a 15.4” display and 2880 by 1800 resolution, individual pixels can’t even be discerned the density is so high. There is less glare without compromising on color and quality. Indeed, there is a 29 percent higher contrast ration than a standard MacBook Pro display; everything is just richer and the technology provides for a 178-degree view of everything on the screen.
In order to benefit most from this Retina Display, much of the software has been updated. As well, the design is solid but its body only measures .71 inches, weighing a mere 4.5 pounds, albeit wider and taller than the Air.
It really is ultimately all about the display with the MacBook Pro. If aesthetics is your thing, you might want to look into making the purchase…it’s something you’re unlikely to regret.
]]>As accurately and poignantly pointed out by Tweeter Kris Sanchez, unlike its predecessor that was named iPad 2, “It's not the iPad 3. It's "The New iPad.” So understandably, the question on gadget gods and goddesses lips is, what gives this version the edge (if indeed an edge – as opposed to great marketing tactics – it has)?
There has been speculation and commentary, as to why the response – both for and against – has seemingly been so radical. Ultimately, this iPad doesn’t seem all that different to the iPad 2. Now, when that version came out, there was understandably a big hullabaloo, since it was so much sleeker than its predecessor. But surely, if Sanchez is anywhere near the ball – and indeed Phil Schiller (the company’s senior VP of international marketing who used the same terminology) – there has to be something worth getting excited about as there apparently was at the new gadget’s recent launch in San Francisco.
Let’s look at the new features? First, there is the retina display which has four times the amount of pixels as its predecessor. Second, there is a really effective camera that one might actually be excited to use for snapping some good shots. Third, the HD video recording capacity is impressive. But still, many have complained that it’s all a lot of noise about nothing.
But while Apple says “demand is off the charts,” an article in Techland was written espousing 6 reasons not to buy the “new iPad.” It dismisses retina display; claims that since it’s not an iPad 3 technically, one shouldn’t make the purchase; for those living out of the 4G LTE umbrella, they will only be getting 3G speeds; it’s bigger and heavier than its predecessor; the camera is only 5 megapixel (not 8); and there is no Siri included.
Still, there must be some reason demand is so high. Proponents and Apple supporters (who would probably never dismiss an Apple product) argue that the camera is much better on the new iPad than the iPad 2. But the question others may ask is, is one realistically going to be using such a large machine (so much bigger than a phone or regular camera) to be taking pictures? Some say, yes they will. In addition, given that the processor is larger than this iPad’s predecessors, it renders way speedier results.
Ultimately, these might not seem such good reasons not to buy the “new iPad,” but if one cannot find real reasons to buy it (presuming they already have the iPad 2), then it might be worth giving this a miss and saving oneself the $800 price tag.

Nissan has partnered up with Apple to create a self-healing iPhone case. What does that mean exactly? The Scratch Shield iPhone case, when scratched, is able to fix itself with no outside help. Small scratches can take less than an hour to complete the process, but larger ones might need up to a week.
It’s a nice combination – Nissan and Apple – and clearly it’s gone well. Nissan is confident that this could be a real commercial success when it arrives in stores later this year. So rather than think “cars” when we hear the word Nissan, we can now think “iPhone” as well.
Nissan did not develop this technology alone. It had some help along the way. The company joined forces with Advanced Softmaterials Inc., and the University of Tokyo. So how did Nissan come into the equation? Apparently the paint it uses on some of its cars is being put into the case. Made from polyroxatane, according to the Nissan website, “when damage occurs to the coating in the form of a fine scratch, the chemical structure is able to react to change back to its original shape and fill the gap – ‘healing’ the blemish.”
]]>By this time next year, we could have the iTV from Apple in our bedrooms. Rumor has it that one of the last brainwaves of CEO Steve Jobs before his passing was the iTV. So let’s take a look at what the iTV might have the potential to achieve.
Jobs’ mission was “…to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use. It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud. It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine.”
Production of these new TVs is set to begin in February of 2012, possibly by top electric giant, Sharp. The idea is that gestures (using motion sensors) will be used to activate the screens as well as face recognition technology rather than button-pressing. Of course, criticism abounds that this could end up with all sorts of weird things happening with people making accidental gestures – that indeed could be quite amusing.
There could be more features that will be integrated too, like the Siri, the iPhone 4S voice command assistant. Watch this space for more information.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s time to start thinking what might make a really cool Christmas gift. Geeks and gadget lovers alike can never get too many gifts, so let’s take a look at what is the latest talk of the town. First, we look at a new gadget from Microsoft. Always seemingly in somewhat poor competition with Apple as its products just don’t have quite the excitement and buzz of its competitor, it could be possible – that with the Microsoft Kinect – it has a good chance of really having something with which to compete.
It has been said that the Microsoft Kinect may actually do something revolutionary to the gaming industry. As well, it could change the entire way people use their computers and other gadgets, especially in their living rooms. What the gadget does, is takes the motion-sensing-controller used in a Nintendo to a totally new level. Thus, in reality, hardware does not even need to be used. Instead, voice technology and a camera are employed so that the user can control the XBOX 360 with their body or voice. What a great piece of technology! So many possibilities abound!

To understand the basics you need to know the following: Apple’s iCloud is not intended as a replacement for local data storage on iPads or iPhones, but rather attempts to keep all of one’s data stored on any Apple/PC device in sync with each other. What does that mean for the lay individual? When preparing a document in Word on your computer, it will be immediately available for editing on the iPhone or another PC. You will no longer need to email the file to yourself or use a USB stick; it will all be everywhere you want it. In addition, the device will remember all your settings, apps, home screen layouts etc. That means that any upgrade you do will not impact information accessibility.
The iCloud is good for anyone who has many iOS devices since they will no longer have to spend time moving data around all their devices. Expect the device to be available sometime in the fall.
